Kinder 2 class explored the theme of Robots as an interesting theme outlined by the students. Various learning opportunities were carried out targeting the X’HemM? Għal Dinja Aħjar initiative at school. The first activity held was with the tangrams. Each student chose different sizes and different colours to build his/her own robot.
The focus of another activity consisted of a big drawing of a human being and another drawing of a robot. The title was- the differences between a human being and a robot. Different type of questions were asked and the students were very engaged and curious.
Moreover, they created a robot by using playdough. They managed to cut and stick different pieces of coloured playdough.
The children also created a big robot by using recycled material and other resources such as paint and glue. Materials used were empty boxes, plastic bottles, caps, CDs, toilet paper rolls. The students visualised the value of numbers, discussed 3-d shapes and counted numbers 1 to 10 backwards.
Finally, the students created another robot by using Engino blocks to integrate with engineering.
